Thanksgiving is just around the corner and for many of us the preparations are under way. The family is making plans to be together and the anticipation of the meal is already beginning to grow. The middle age children are wondering if this is the year they will be called up to the “adult” table or if they will remain at the “kids” table for another year (there is still hope for Christmas dinner).
Let us remember those who will not be at the table this year; our loved ones who cannot be with us as they are performing their military duty far from home. Let us pray for their safety, that they are not alone, and for their quick return.
I would like to share a Thanksgiving Prayer by Samuel F. Pugh.
“O God when I have food.
help me remember the hunger;
When I have work,;
help me remember the jobless
When I have a home,
help me remember those with no home at all;
When I am without pain,
help me remember those who suffer,
help me destroy my complacency;
bestir my compassion,
and be concerned enough to help;
By word and deed,
those who cry out for what we take for granted,
Please have a safe and happy holiday season and remember to pray, in your own way, everyday.
